Job description

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of eCommerce and advertising, offering a rich array of digital display advertising solutions with the goal of helping our customers find and discover anything they want to buy. We help advertisers reach Amazon customers on Amazon.com, across our other owned and operated sites, on other high quality sites across the web, and on millions of Kindles, tablets, and mobile devices. We start with the customer and work backwards in everything we do, including advertising. If you’re interested in joining a rapidly growing team working to build a unique, world-class advertising group with a relentless focus on the customer, you’ve come to the right place.

Our global platform provides self-service low-latency systems at massive scale for Amazon Advertising across Performance Advertising (Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Products, Sponsored Display), and is growing to include other products like DSP, Attribution, and AMC. Our products are strategically important to our Retail and Marketplace businesses driving long term growth, and as such our organization's initiatives are highly visible to Amazon's executive leadership.
We are growing at an unprecedented rate with a seemingly endless range of new opportunities, and have been a broad mandate to aggressively experiment and innovate.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to participate in the full development lifecycle of Amazon's public Advertising API framework. These services are instrumental to enabling advertisers and their partners to easily create, manage and optimize advertising campaigns through programmatic and file-based interfaces. You will work on challenging problems at “Amazon Scale” and collaborate with various stakeholders including Product Manager, Dev Manager, Partner Manager, Advertising Support team, and obviously your colleagues engineers. Our charter includes a Big Data initiative focused on the use of our APIs, and uses that data to report on adoption, call patterns, and bad actor detection. Big Data program utilizes modern serverless AWS infrastructure, compute and streaming technologies such as Kinesis, Glue and Spark to build petabyte scale data lake, analytics and Machine Learning applications, using languages like Java, Scala, Python

You will work closely with peer engineers and upstream advertising platform teams to expose internal system capabilities to the outside world in a fashion that accommodates extreme load and latency requirements. You'll work on the design and implementation of all aspects of the API service, and influence and even re-architect platform services to operate at significantly larger scale than ever anticipated. You’ll have a direct impact on your customers and the opportunity to work closely with external integrators of the API. The ideal candidate will be passionate about quality, consistency, maintainability, performance, security and all the other things that make great software great. You will own the design and implementation of major deliverables end-to-end. This position requires collaboration with product managers, technical program managers and partner teams, necessitating a comfort-level with ambiguity and a desire to create, iterate and improve.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience influencing professional software engineering practices and best practices for buiding and supporting great software services
· Experience with low latency, high throughput Java services.
· Experience with GraphQL, interest in real-time data streaming
· Working knowledge of REST, OAuth, transactional and NoSQL data stores and big data processing systems
· General awesomeness in software engineering and life
