The Customer Packaging and Experience (CPEX) team at Amazon has an exciting and unique role for an experienced and motivated Senior Research Scientist to support Amazon's sustainability goals by guiding the development and application of advanced simulation tools and big data analyses to drive innovation within Amazon packaging.

The successful candidate is a results-oriented and highly-motivated self-starter, skilled at applying their deep understanding of mechanical engineering first principals and data science methodologies to scope, design and implement solutions to complex packaging problems at Amazon scale.

Because CPEX works with many partner teams to implement new packaging solutions and problem-solve current packaging issues, this role requires the ability to effectively communicate with business stakeholders and program leadership to translate business requirements into simulation analyses, and communicate simulation results into actionable recommendations.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of industry experience.
· Experience with computational simulation tools for explicit structural analysis (e.g. ANSYS LS-DYNA) and rigid body simulation (e.g. ANSYS Motion).
· Skilled with scripting languages (Python) and scientific packages (Pandas) to complete statistical analyses of large-scale data.
· Strong technical communication skills (verbal and written) and project management acumen.
