AWS is looking for a creative, high-judgement, detail-oriented, smart, ambitious individual to join AWS's Public Policy team based in Rome. If you’re a person who loves fast-paced business action, has attention to detail, works well across different business and legal groups and is able to multitask, AWS is looking for you!
Expect to get involved in supporting new projects and initiatives, helping drive performance and build plans for the future. The role is very broad and will require an individual who has an eye for details and is good at communicating across functional teams.

Working with the entire AWS Public Policy team, the Public Policy Intern will help develop Amazon Web Services’ position on policy issues, research policy matters, interact with trade associations, and support the drafting of external and internal reports. The Public Policy Intern will work collaboratively with the team to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The Intern will work closely with team members to assess government activities of importance to AWS, anticipate potential government actions, and develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions to assist in our external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives.

This is a 6+6 month internship aimed at recent University graduates with some previous work experience. It will be based in Rome. The role is broad-based and will require an individual who can thrive in a dynamic environment. Successful candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and effective communicators.

Your Responsibilities
§ As a member of the Public Policy team, you will actively be involved in providing support and advice to local and international business clients, in the context of development projects as well as day-to-day business.
§ You will assist on a variety of tasks typical of a corporate environment, including monitoring and reporting on news, legislation, and policy and regulatory developments pertaining to the main areas of law.
§ You will be involved in the analysis of a variety of policy issues, including carrying out research aimed at supporting the necessities of our internal clients.
§ You will also support the team in the management of complex calendar and scheduling; track and help drive completion of key deliverables and follow up on outstanding items; document writing, editing, and readiness
§ Learn, have fun at work and help others do the same.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong analytical skills, including ability to dive deep and understand how legislative and regulatory proposals may impact AWS business
· Outstanding attention to detail
· A keen understanding of the Italian and EU legislative and regulatory policy process as well as the technology industry
· A passion for technology and an interest in growing a successful career in a public policy environment
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging
· Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity
· Team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
· Exceptional research skills, including ability to identify sources of information and data points

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· You are a student or a recent graduate (Law, Political Sciences, Economics, etc.) from a renowned university. An advanced degree in Public Policy is preferred.
· You are fluent in Italian and English (written and verbal).
· Work, internship, or other leadership experience in a professional environment, with an emphasis and demonstrated interest in public policy and government relations work
· Strong Internet‐based research and Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word management skills; very comfortable with software in general.
