DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting opportunity to write documentation for AWS Elastic Beanstalk, an easy-to-use service for deploying and scaling web applications and services. Elastic Beanstalk supports several programming languages, such as Node.js, Python, and Go and familiar servers like Apache, Nginx, and Passenger. Elastic Beanstalk enhances developer productivity and by joining this team you’d have the opportunity to create content that does the same thing. We’re looking for a writer to help document new features and continuously improve existing docs based on customer feedback.

As a Programmer/Writer at AWS, you get to work with a stellar technical team to produce product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment. Our technical publications team plays a vital role in getting customers up and running quickly and making sure that the details of our products are clearly described and easy to understand.

The ideal candidate has a technical background that enables effective interaction with Software Development Engineers, Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers. In addition, the ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical publications.

Key responsibilities
· Write, improve, and test customer-facing technical documentation and code examples
· Collaborate with engineering teams to create or acquire meaningful code examples in Java, .NET, or other programming languages.
· Work with technical editors to improve content quality.
· Gather, analyze, and respond to customer feedback and data.
· Provide feature and bug input to engineering teams.
· Work with engineering teams and product management teams to prioritize work items.
· Help define writing projects and determine priorities.
· Drive documentation planning with engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience designing, planning, and delivering content projects.
· Experience working on or closely with software development teams.
· Experience using an XML-based authoring system
· Technical experience in a major technology area such as Compute, Storage, Database, Developer Tools, Machine Learning, Security or IoT.
· Experience working with agile project management methodologies.
· Experience working with XML, reStructuredText, or Markdown-based documentation systems.
· Experience working with Git or similar distributed version control system.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A minimum of 3 years experience writing for developer and technical audiences: blog, product documentation, or technical information.
· Experience with web development, cloud computing, IaaS, PaaS, or related areas.
· Ability to write sample code in at least one of the following programming languages: Go, Java, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, or Ruby
