DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Books and Amazon 4-star stores creative team is responsible for in-store seasonal campaigns, wayfinding and marketing signage, and other collateral, as well as digital marketing and traffic-driving initiatives. The Production Designer will augment the existing team of visual designers, and will report to a Creative Director.

You have exceptional technical skills related to producing a broad range of design deliverables. You translate design concept files into clean, optimized, accurate print-ready or web-ready files. You pride yourself on having impeccable attention to detail. You are able to prioritize and manage your time effectively. You feel at ease communicating with cross-functional peers and leadership. You respond positively to creative and professional feedback, shifting priorities and ambiguity. You develop design skills (typography, composition, and color) in order to aid your performance as Production Designer. Responsibilities:
· Support the Creative Team in production activities, including creating layouts, mechanicals or templates, placing or cropping images, retouching or image compression and slicing or conversion of files across multiple programs (web/mobile/print)
· Work within a continuous improvement operating model with the ability to identify and facilitate improvements and efficiencies across production work and processes
· Create multiple packaging files from concept or master files and product information inputs, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency
· Partner with Designers to understand creative intent and how to best implement across all project components
· Partner with Signage Program Managers to understand print capabilities and production needs
· Prepare final brand assets for distribution including logos, icons, patterns, and other artwork
· Use various tools in order to track, publish, distribute, archive, and review assets
· Possess understanding of production tools and processes, keeping current with production standards and technology
· Implement design production solutions that improve output quality, increase efficiency and speed, and/or enhance customer experience
· Apply broad knowledge of production skills, project workflows and file/asset management, to handle assigned projects with minimal supervision
· Ensure all projects are completed within identified timelines and budgets
· Enhance team knowledge of best practices in file creation and production
· Take on limited design work when required, in order to supplement team workload
· Perform shared tasks and activities required to ensure Creative Team function, including making design comps, purchasing fonts and stock imagery, procuring design tools and resources, technical troubleshooting, and fixing paper jams

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 2+ years of experience in a Production Designer role
· Investment in Production Design as an area of professional interest, this is not a stepping-stone to a Graphic Design role
· Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite—specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop—on Mac OS
· Work samples online or as PDF, including at least 3 multi-component projects which demonstrate a dedication to high quality production (e.g. consistency, accuracy, attention to detail)
· In-depth knowledge of design and production terminology
