DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Principal Program Manager to lead Well-Architected’s program to help customers address issues identified in their workloads. The Principal Program Manager is a senior leader who develops strategy, sets direction for teams and ensures the successful delivery of this large-scale, high-impact strategic program.

Today the Well-Architected Framework has been developed to help customers build secure, high-performing, resilient, and efficient infrastructure for their applications. Based on five pillars — operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization — the Framework provides a consistent approach for customers and partners to evaluate architectures, and implement designs that will scale over time.

You will help launch the 6th pillar of Well-Architected, Sustainability . You will support the rollout of content and training that helps our customers design sustainable workloads and help preserve our planet.

The ideal candidate is an influential technical leader with a knack for getting things done. You will be able to separate what's important from what's urgent and find the path forward from among multiple scenarios, earn the trust of stakeholders, and improve the efficiency of our cross-functional organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with cloud-based technologies, distributed computing, cloud operations, cloud security models, high availability, and disaster recovery, performance, and cost optimization..
· Ability to travel internationally as needed, with domestically travel to support management activities as needed (approximately 20-25%)
· Strong automation mindset and passion to identify or develop strategies to mitigate manual intervention going forward.
· Use of AWS services (or Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud) in distributed environments.
· AWS Certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Advanced Networking Specialist)
· Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional or military experience
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years of AWS or public cloud implementation and production operation, and 15+ years of overall experience.
· Experience in sustainability and the economics of large scale deployments.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group leadership and executive presentations.
· Experience in building internal and external enablement on nuanced topics.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent professional or military experience
