DESCRIPTION

The Automated Marketing organization includes some of Amazon's largest and most influential marketing programs, such as Amazon Associates, the world's largest affiliate program, all Search Marketing programs, and AmazonSmile, Amazon's charitable giving program. The interaction between engineering and business impacting, high visibility programs is deep. The teams touch almost every part of Amazon, including Alexa, Retail, Digital Music & Video and Amazon Business. AWS technologies are used extensively in the organization.
This role reports directly to the VP, Automated Marketing and will own cross-organizational technical programs and multi-channel engineering efforts. She/he will help successfully launch projects of significant impact and balance technology decisions with business value created. The work will focus on very large engineering efforts that solve significantly complex or endemic problems. The Principal TPM will work with Principal and other senior engineers to help establish technical standards and drive the overall technical architecture and engineering practices. She/he will work closely with many of the organization's engineering teams, but focus on the hardest problems in the organization. The Principal TPM will identify risks/opportunities in technical strategies, architecture(s), in engineering organization structure(s). The successful candidate will be someone who is an exemplary operator and someone who cares passionately about being heavily involved in solving additional challenges such as improving diversity, and innovating faster. This is a WW impact role and the successful candidate will think globally and have the ability to make the right trade-offs for the organization and for the company.
As a Principal TPM you will be expected to:
· Own programs with significant complexity with broad cross-organizational and/or deep architectural impact.
· Drive large engineering efforts that solve significantly difficult problems with complete independence.
· Identify risks/opportunities in technical strategies, architecture(s), in engineering organization structure(s).
· Improve how organizations interact to achieve business and technology goals.
· Create and optimize cross-organizational structures and mechanisms to ensure long-term success.
· Decompose complex processes into simple, straight-forward solutions.
· Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
· Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 7+ years of experience managing complex technology projects
· Experience with agile development methodologies (i.e. Scrum, XP, etc)
· Experience with project delivery for large, cross-functional projects
· Experience with object oriented development and design (preferably in both client and server development solutions)
· Experience and proficiency with web technologies and tools
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· A passion for data-driven decision-making
