Job description

DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Digital Content and Commerce Services team (DCCS) powers ordering, subscriptions, catalog management, customer acquisition, engagement and vendor payments for all of Amazon’s digital and subscription businesses. We process billions of digital transactions every year and enable our digital businesses to grow their businesses worldwide. We are on a mission to accelerate the time for digital businesses to launch new programs and expand to new countries through self-service capabilities across the Digital ecommerce lifecycle. DCCS’s Business Integrations team is looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager – Technical (PMT) to tackle this complex and ambiguous problem of making our products and capabilities easy to adopt and extend, quick to launch and low cost to operate.

As Principal PMT in this team, you will have an exciting opportunity to define and design a new and improved experience for Amazon Digital businesses that build, onboard and operate through DCCS. As the single threaded leader of the DCCS Self-Service program, you will work backwards from the needs of these businesses including Prime, Amazon Video, Music, Alexa and Kindle to establish the vision and roadmap for Self-Service. You will partner closely with engineering and product management teams to design, deliver, plan and lead tech innovation to deliver self-service capabilities across DCCS. You will apply data-driven approaches and deep problem-solving skills to validate requirements and evaluate opportunities to simplify complexity and reduce the time, effort and cost for launching and operating through DCCS.

The Principal PMT will lead cross-functionally to deliver an improved self-service experience for Amazon Digital businesses. To do this, s/he must be able to quickly ramp up on the DCCS end to end ecommerce lifecycle spanning multiple domains from Ordering, Subscriptions to content, catalog management and royalty calculation services. S/he must understand Digital business pain-points and identify launch bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies across these multiple services. Working with a large and diverse group of stakeholders and partners, this leader must provide vision and strategy while simultaneously being able to dive deep to identify opportunities for improvement.

A successful candidate is a self-starter with an ability to challenge the status quo to keep innovating for our clients. You thrive on solving complex problems, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders including senior leaders. You are a proven innovator, team leader and builder with energy and deep competencies to envision the right experience for customers and build scalable solutions that optimize for customer and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
This role will be responsible for leading cross-functionally to establish and deliver the self-service vision. Specifically:
· Defining the long-term vision and strategy for self-service
· Creating buy-in for the vision across engineering and leadership teams within the org, digital business and stakeholder teams
· Defining high quality, simple org-level self-service roadmap based on team strategy and vision and managing prioritization and trade-offs against developer experience, customer experience, and time to market.
· Developing detailed, crisp business requirements, user stories that can be used to create product and API specifications and architecture for services across the organization
· Identifying opportunities to simplify and automate complex architecture and partner closely with engineering teams to drive prioritization of these opportunities
· Proactively identifying and resolving strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet org-wide goals
· Defining success metrics to measure the business impact of self-service investments
· Leading internal and external benchmarks to drive insights and learnings to inform our strategy
