DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a Corporate Business Development (CorpBD) Leader to join our team in Korea. This is a unique opportunity to join a centralized team that manages strategic partnerships across all of Amazon’s businesses. As a Corporate Business Development Leader you will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing some of Amazon Korea’s most complex and high impact partnership activities while having a strong technical aptitude to identify best in class partnerships for Amazon Web Services (AWS). This includes managing relationships and negotiations for partnership deals which are unconventional in nature, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to AWS and Amazon. You will interact with senior leaders at Amazon across several of Amazon’s business: Amazon Web Services, Amazon Prime, Advertising, Kindle, Amazon Payments and other related businesses.

This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon. You will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where our relative advantages or risks lie, if/when major features are in existing roadmaps, and current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful technical analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. Identifying and executing strategic partnerships is our primary objective.

While using our global CorpBD playbook, the CorpBD Leader will be responsible to design a specific strategy for Korea, focused on Amazon Web Services, but services all CorpBD needs. The Leader will work very closely with Seattle CorpBD teams and Amazon leaders to design the right strategy. In addition to strategic business development, you will work closely with the Corporate Development team to design an investing strategy in strategic partnerships to create significant leverage.

CorBD is a small, tight-knit team who values authentic, strong willed individuals that think creatively and will proactively seek out opportunities to advance the growth initiatives of Amazon’s businesses.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

· Design a specific strategy for Korea that can evolve into a broad framework for entering into strategic partnerships and alliances
· Take the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage partnerships that can involve marketing, content, commerce, and technology components.
· Be a central point of contact for all strategic partnerships for AWS
· Ability to assess technical feasibility for all our businesses.
· Evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of partnerships.
· Lead cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, Corporate Development and senior management to execute on the relationships.
· Develop best practices to foster, manage, and track opportunities.
· Support the strategic objectives and interests of Amazon’s business teams.
· Recommend investments in key strategic partnerships. Carry out valuation analysis and investment thesis/themes.
· Business level or higher communication skills in both Korean and English is a must.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· MBA/MS from a top-tier business school
· 10+ years of applicable experience in strategic business development, product management, investment banking, or venture investing experience
· End-to-end negotiation experience, including identifying, developing, and executing successful partnerships such as largescale marketing deals, technical collaborations, complex digital media transactions, and strategic technology relationships.
· Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics.
· Ability to manage and recommend strategic investment decisions
