  • Bucharest (Municipiul Bucureşti)
  • IT development

Job description

DESCRIPTION

At the Amazon Development Center in Bucharest, part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), we work on global-scale compute platforms, with special focus on serverless and container virtualization technologies, trusted compute, and server fleet tooling for AWS EC2. As a part of the EC2 Kernel and Operating System organization, we invent, own, and drive the building blocks that are the foundation of the cloud.

Amazon is a place where builders can build. Our internships offer exceptional opportunities for you to grow your technical and non-technical skills. From day one, you will be working with experienced engineers and designers who love what they do. You will drive your own learning and development with guidance and coaching from your manager, mentor and colleagues around you.

We are looking for outstanding candidates to join our Software Development Engineer internship program for 3-6 months. Internships are flexible in length to fit in with your university's program.

You will be part of a team involved in every aspect of the software development process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems that meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

Come help us make history! We have teams such as the:

OS and Emulation team focuses on cutting-edge virtualization technologies, which are the foundation of EC2, with an emphasis on device emulation, QEMU, KVM and Xen runtime. You will own and develop Nitro hypervisor features that will allow customers to run code in a highly secure environment.

Compute Capsule, the team that created Firecracker [1], an open source virtualization technology that is purpose-built for creating and managing secure, multi-tenant container and function-based services that provide serverless operational models. Firecracker is already the basis of AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate, and we are working with the open source container community to allow Kubernetes pods to be isolated within Firecracker microVMs.

KaTS team, responsible for building internal tools and services that enable our customers to get visibility into how their components operate in production. Our services have a global-scale and operate on top of the Linux kernel and hypervisor solutions built in AWS EC2. You will have the opportunity to work with a combination of AWS services, EC2 internal services, and on-host EC2 components.
