DESCRIPTION

In Amazon’s intensely data-driven culture, HR is using data and analytics with increasing frequency to inform people-related decisions, evaluate the impact of programs/pilots, and identify areas for new or additional investment. The HR Analyst role on the HR team supporting the HR, Legal, Finance, and Corporate Affairs businesses will provide the requisite analytics “muscle” to answer important people-related questions with credible data and science. This will require a combination of strong statistical analysis capability, business acumen, curiosity, and passion for using data to drive important decisions.
· Creation of creative and compelling metrics, reporting and self-service dashboards
· Work closely with peers and stakeholders to access, pull, clean and analyze data from a variety of HR data sources
· Gather new data, link disparate forms of data, and/or creatively use existing data to propose metrics and present them in compelling way
· Design reporting tools that allow users to customize different views of metrics or slices of results over large data sets
· Respond to Talent Leadership and others for a variety of on-demand human resources reports and ad hoc requests as needed
· Develop analysis plans and apply appropriate statistical techniques and/or predictive modeling to answer workforce-related questions
· Own and drive analyses of HR and business outcomes data to identify relationships and trends; interpret data and communicate noteworthy findings to HR and business leaders
· Act as a peer reviewer of other teams’ analyses as part of a growing community of Business Analysts in HR

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 2+ years of experience in Analytics, OLAP tools (OBIEE, Tableau, COGNOS) and engineering automated reporting solutions
· Experience with statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time series analysis, and data mining
· Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Perl, Ruby)
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities
· Project Management skills/experience a plus.
· Data presentation skills that allow you to clearly, compellingly, and effectively influence audiences internally and externally, across organization boundaries.
· Able to source, work with, and combine disparate data sets to answer business questions.
· Able to deliver complex analysis/ projects from initiation through delivery.
· Inquisitive technical and business skills to understand, test, or challenge the status quo while working harmoniously with the business and technology owners.
· Strong record of focus on details and demonstrates sense of urgency to meet goals.
· Demonstrates discretion of handling confidential data/ information.
· Proven analytical and quantitative ability and a passion for enabling customers to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
· Strong verbal and written communication.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative social science, such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or related field (or equivalent experience).
· Advanced Excel skills; experience with business intelligence tools, and scripting languages.
· Proven analytical and quantitative ability and a passion for enabling customers to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
· Strong verbal and written communication.
