DESCRIPTION

Amazon's Pricing Research team is seeking an experienced Principal Research Scientist to guide and direct the research behind Amazon's marketplace experimentation. In this position, you will own development and execution of a plan for the methodologies underlying pricing experimentation for Amazon's marketplace. This includes developing methodologies for generating business guidance from large-scale pricing experiments across multiple marketplaces and countries and communicating insights to business leaders. This is a high-visibility and high-impact position supporting billions of dollars of global decisions.

The Pricing Research team is a team of scientists and economists who design the analytics powering pricing for Amazon's on-line business. The team uses world-class analytics to make sure that the prices that we offer bring tremendous value to our customers and drive our future growth. A key capability of the group is the ability to work with large volumes of data to generate actionable insight for decision makers.

This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with a talented and motivated group of data scientists and economists to extract insights from data. Experience in applied analytics is essential and you should be familiar with modern tools for data science and business analysis. We are particularly interested in candidates with research background in econometrics, applied microeconomics and statistical inference.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Applicants with considerably more experience, including mid-career are also strongly encouraged
- Experience in pricing-related analytics
- Strong research track record

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· PhD in Statistics, Management Science, Quantitative Business, Economics or a related field.

- 8+ years of experience in analytics
- Track record in performing high-quality analysis of big data
- Track record of driving change based on persuasive communication of insights based on analysis.
- Experience developing new analytic approaches working closely with research scientists, economists, software developers and product managers from conception through implementation.
- Written and verbal communication skills to convey complicated processes and systems to business partners and senior leadership.
- Proficiency in R, Python and/or Spark
