Job Description

Is there life on Mars? Ever seen Glastonbury from space?  We’re hoping we’ve caught your eye, here at Airbus in the UK’s Defence and Space Events and Communication team we don’t like to boast but we do have a pretty impressive record when it comes to working on events. As an intern in our team you’ll get to experience first hand demonstrations of the ExoMars Rover at New Scientist Live, The Design Museum or Farnborough Airshow, at the heart of Goodwood Festival of Speed or sponsors of the Royal International Air Tattoo to name a few.

The events don’t stop there; in your free time here in Stevenage you can be part of the Young Professional Association along with 40+ interns and grads. You can attend social  and charity events and a huge range of space sector events in London (being only 20 minutes away by train).

Airbus is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services. In 2018 it generated revenues of € 64 billion and employed a workforce of around 134,000. Airbus is a European leader providing tanker, combat, transport and mission aircraft, as well as one of the world’s leading space companies. In helicopters, Airbus provides the most efficient civil and military rotorcraft solutions worldwide.

OK, we do like to boast but we are pretty proud of the experience we provide students who spend a year working with us. Next year the Rosalind Franklin rover, part of The ExoMars Mission is due to launch in 2020. The ExoMars rover will pioneer new ways to explore the surface of Mars and is the first rover specifically designed to find evidence of life past or present and you’ll play a key role in making the events surrounding this a success!

As you may have guessed, no two days are the same. Monday you could be running a new satellite launch event or accompanying the ExoMars rover to the UK Space Conference; to dress-down Friday you could be in our on site Mars yard filming with key broadcast media or organising a VIP tour.

Working alongside the UK Events and Comms team members you will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of tasks including:

·  Assisting with high profile events, predominately in the space sector, around the UK
·  Organisation and logistical arrangements of various events, for example, VIP visits, exhibitions, media/press events and conferences
·  Assisting in communications projects and campaigns to promote Airbus

Our internships give a unique insight into potential career paths within Airbus. They are designed so that you can put your theoretical knowledge into practice and gain crucial industry experience. The skills and knowledge you gain will improve your chances of a future role within Airbus and should benefit your future studies.

So what do we need from you?

·  Currently studying towards a degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, Media, Business or related subject
·  An interest in space, aerospace and some knowledge of the fantastic products Airbus designs
·  Excellent communications and organisational skills
·  Flexibility

But really the most important thing is what makes you tick. You must have a passion for people, be self-motivated and not afraid to pick up the phone and talk to stakeholders at all levels.

As we started with a boast, it’s only right we end on the same note. In return for giving us your passion, determination and commitment you will enjoy flexible working hours, a little travel, some excellent employee benefits and access to some top events.

We look forward to hearing from you.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

By submitting your CV or application you are consenting to Airbus using and storing information about you for monitoring purposes relating to your application or future employment. This information will only be used by Airbus.
Airbus is committed to achieving workforce diversity and creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome all applications irrespective of social and cultural background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Make every future a success.
