Job Description

What if YOUR adventure started with US ! ️

We offer you the opportunity to work in a world-leading company in its field, focused on digital technology, at the forefront of research and innovation.

An internship offer entitled « GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Algorithms(m/f) » has just opened within AIRBUS Defence & Space (Toulouse, Palays).

Within the framework of a school curriculum in initial training, you are looking for a compulsory internship or an internship integrated into a gap year. This internship will begin in February 2021 (date subject to flexibility) and will last for a period of 6 months.

Airbus Defence and Space, Space Systems is the European leader in space, formed from the current Astrium Divisions Space Transportation and Satellites. With its unique expertise, Space Systems is the global No. 1 for commercial launchers and the European leader for satellites and orbital systems. The business line serves institutional customers like ESA, national civil and defence agencies and commercial customers.

You will join a team of 20 people in the 'Navigation & ATM Department (TESUN).' department. For this internship, you will be part of a team of dynamic and experience engineers, working on state of the art and innovative algorithms embedded in the most complex and interesting navigation systems today: EGNOS v3 and Galileo.

The goal of the internship is to work on the algorithms inside the Orbit Determination and time Synchronisation chain (ODTS), a major chain of the EGNOS and GALILEO system. You will participate in the development of ODTS operational algorithms, using state of the art algorithms design in the literature, and existing team assets. After performance validation of this prototype, it will be used for navigation R&D and prospects activities.

Duties and responsibilities:

You will contribute to the following main activities:

·
Design algorithms of orbit determination and flight dynamics for GNSS satellite.

·
Prototype the selected algorithms, using if necessary existing library (ie Orekit).

·
Develop (Java, Python or C/C++) the prototype for a first assessment of real time performance

·
Write associated documentation : algorithm description, algorithm performance test reports

·
As the project and the activities evolve continuously, and with the R&D going on in parallel, there are many opportunities for further activities and integration in the team after the internship.

This course will allow you to develop the following skills:

·
System engineering

·
Complex algorithms design, development  and validation

·
Project management

Skills & Prerequisites:

You are preparing a diploma level Bac+5 in space engineering (or equivalent), and you obtain following competences:

·
Knowledge of GNSS system

·
Knowledge of space mechanics, orbit determination.

·
Solid background in Applied mathematics (Optimization, Estimation, statistics)

·
Solid background in SW development (Java, Python, C/C++ or Matlab)

·
Background in GNSS measurement processing (orbit/clock and/or ionosphere modelling) is a plus

·
