Job Description

A vacancy for an IT Infrastructure Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Noordwijk Netherlands on the European Space Agency / European Space Research and Technology Centre site. As the successful candidate you will join the Intespace BV which is a subsidiary of Airbus Defence & Space in charge, via European Test Services (ETS), of operating the ESA/ESTEC Test Centre.

As IT Infrastructure Engineer, your main responsibility is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation, performance and security of the ETS Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Network Infrastructure Systems. You will be responsible for the installation, support ongoing maintenance and documentation of the Microsoft Windows, VMware, server hardware and network infrastructure. Additional responsibilities will include leading and managing infrastructure projects of varying complexities and priorities.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

You will be responsible for maintaining a high level of uptime for systems and applications and your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

1- Responsible (manage, configure, develop) for server and network infrastructure patching and upgrades

·  Network LAN/WAN/WLAN and internet infrastructure patching and upgrades
·  Health and maintenance of operating Windows Server Systems and Active Directory and private VMware infrastructure
·  Maintenance of Linux based systems (Redhat/CentOS systems)
·  Maintenance of the Storage infrastructure, Security protocols and daily backup
·  Definition of business requirements and systems goals in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments

  2- Support the projects of third parties and IT providers

·  Liaise between third parties and site IT providers to implement security and network requirements
·  Support external applications and network issues for ad hoc internal operation
·  Support the development project for internal applications (web-based)
·  Hands-on IT infrastructure setup

3- Providing documents standards and policies to ensure IT assets which are properly secured and protected by applying appropriate access management and privacy controls.

4- Support, in case of need, the Data Handling team in operating the facilities even in shifts mode 24/7.

This role may involve, from time to time, some travel for business in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to a master degree Information Technology (or equivalent) or relevant area of expertise
·  A minimum of 2-4 years of experience as an Information and Communications Technology infrastructure engineer or equivalent
·  Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
·  Knowledge of Windows and Linux (Windows 7/10, Windows Server 2012-2019, Debian/Ubuntu and CentOS/RedHat Linux) operating systems and technologies
·  Knowledge of System Administration Software
·  Knowledge of Virtualisation platforms VMware and Hyper-V. 6
·  Knowledge and experience with the networking infrastructure (as Cisco ASA Firewalls, VLAN’s, Mac Address Authentication, …), Network Operating Systems/Active Directory, DHCP and DNS
·  The knowledge on the different tools and scripting would be appreciated: Applications - Exact, Synergy; Development - Laravel, PHP, MySQL, MS Access, VBA;

Scripting - bash, PowerShell, Python

·  Customer-oriented and strong sense of responsibility

·  Pro-active and flexible
·  Good communication skills
·  Team-player and autonomous
·  Negotiation level of English and French
