We offer you to work in a world-leading company which is at the heart of a digital transformation, at the cutting edge of research and innovation.

We are looking for a trainee who will deal with unsteady aerothermal simulation of an air system exhaust (m/f) who will be joining us at Airbus site in Saint-Martin-du-Touch, Toulouse .

This internship is to be filled from 1st of March 2020 (keep in mind that hiring process takes about 4 months, from the validation of Job Requisition) (the dates are subject to a certain flexibility)

You will be part of the Component Aerodynamics team in Toulouse, in charge of the design of all propulsion and air systems aeroshapes.

A lot of air systems are present on an aircraft, especially in the engine environment.

The exhaust design of a nacelle air system is often a multidisciplinary compromise - loads, noise, thermal impact, drag impact – which is why a good comprehension of each behavior is mandatory to reach an optimized design.

This internship will focus on the nacelle anti-ice system, which discharges hot air through an exhaust grid on placed on the inlet of the engine. The resulting cross flow is quite complex and unsteady, and flight tests are performed to study this behavior.

The objective of this internship is to develop a process based on state-of-the-art meshing and unsteady CFD techniques to determine as accurately as possible the aerothermal behavior of different grid designs.

·  Tasks and Responsibilities :

You will be working under the supervision of your manager who will help you identify your professional objectives and support you in the development of your skills.

Your main activities will include:

·  Bibliography of aerothermal grid design
·  Exhaust grid CAD
·  Mesh and run unsteady CFD simulations (ANSYS Fluent SAS)
·  Analyze different grid designs simulations and compare to available wind tunnel and flight tests results

You will be part of the design team located close to method & tools experts.

You might also have the opportunity to follow flight tests preparation on this topic.

·  Required skills :

You are in 2nd year or last year of a Master of Engineering (School or University) or equivalent, with specialisation in fluid mechanics / aerothermal and you obtain following competences:
