We are looking for an intern to join the AOCS/GNC (Attitude and Orbital Control System/Guidance, Navigation and Control) team of engineers who work on current and future space missions. The internship is a stimulating blend of learning and technical work and the successful candidate will gain extensive experience in the design and analysis of space mission GNC, for both small studies and large projects. The department provides the AOCS/GNC engineering analysis and support to a number of large ESA projects currently being conducted at Airbus Defence and Space.

Task & accountabilities :

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

·  Support the AOCS/GNC Advanced studies team in the design and development of new concepts for Interplanetary Mission Analysis
·  Designing interplanetary trajectories with new and innovative techniques
·  Supporting tasks related to spacecraft control engineering, navigation and guidance, simulator development, mathematical modelling and algorithm development

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

·  Currently studying a degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics etc.).
·  Programming experience in one or more languages such as “C”, C++, ObjectiveC, Swift, MatLab, Simulink, Python, Java, JavaScript or assembler.
·  Background with control engineering content, space mechanics or aerospace would be desirable
·  Experience or knowledge of embedded computer systems (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc.) desirable
·  Mathematical modelling or Computer simulations would be desirable
