As part of a school curriculum in initial training , you are looking for a mandatory internship or integrated into a gap year that will allow you to validate your studies. The internship duration is 4 to 6 months maximum.

Indeed, it is essential for AIRBUS to be able to provide repair solutions for each part of the aircraft produced , thanks to a certain number of services, such as: providing repair instructions, anticipating and responding to airline requests, providing spare parts, preparing repair kits...

These activities and services are essential for airlines as they allow them to maintain their aircraft operability. Furthermore, these activities are proof of the know-how and expertise that AIRBUS has to control and manage the complete production of its aircraft, from initial design to customer support.

It is in this context that the Pylon Repair Design Office is currently working on a 3D Printing project (ALM for Additive Layer Manufacturing) whose aim is to provide airlines with spare parts under short notice when a damaged part has to be replaced. In this industrial sector where customer satisfaction is the priority of each aircraft manufacturer, AIRBUS takes up the challenge of supplying these spare parts in record time to airlines and improving its delivery process.

Thus, as part of the improvement of the delivery of 3D printing parts, a final year internship for mechanical engineers has opened at the Saint-Éloi site in Toulouse.

Tasks & accountabilities

You will work in the Pylon Repair Design Office with the ALM project manager, who will help you identify your personal objectives and assist you in developing your skills.

The objective of the internship is to:

·  Analyze the project context and its stakeholders in order to support the project and improve airline satisfaction (creation of a SIPOC).
·  Develop and use your 3D printing skills (Powder Bed, Wire Deposition, Selective Laser Sintering).
·  Gather the know-how of AIRBUS 3D printing (design and calculation rules, manufacturing processes and material properties) in order to create the design office 3D Printing Database (bibliography optimization).
·  Develop the areas of improvement already identified and be proactive in suggesting new services to airlines (creation of a support tool to anticipate airline requests).

As part of this project, you will work in an international environment, in partnership with several national AIRBUS entities (including AIRBUS-UK and SATAIR in Germany).

This mission will start Q1 2020 (dates flexible).

Required skills

You are preparing an engineering degree (Bac+5 level) in mechanics or equivalent . You are concerned about the airlines satisfaction and the in service life of AIRBUS products. You want to develop your skills and know-how about designing parts for ALM and you have the following skills:

You have more specific skills for:

- Mechanical design (3D design, tolerances)

- Calculation methods (static analysis, fatigue analysis and damage tolerance)

- Advanced level in English

You are familiar with tools such as:

- CAD

- Catia V5 / V6 Your mission, if you accept it, will ask you to be:

- Rigorous, curious and autonomous

- With a sense of relational skills

- Recognized for your organizational skills

- Able to analyze and synthesize

- Have a strong team spirit.

Finally, a knowledge of project management would be an asset.

Depending on the specifics of the offer, you may have to travel to another locations.
