When A/C structure is damaged, it requires a quick restoration … Typically, passengers are waiting to take-off, and Airlines are losing money… We are developing engineers’ ability to establish and deliver, for all fleets, timely and consistent solutions to the technical daily queries raised by the customer support for Technical issues in operations.

A vacancy for a Structure Repair Engineer (f/m) - Stress - has arisen within Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Toulouse.

                                             

Within the framework of damages reported by airlines (linked to events or during maintenance operations), you will provide justified repair solutions (repair instructions and associated stress justifications). This includes the steering of the customer in case of deviations observed on aircraft and/or the associated repair. The Repair definition must be delivered within deadlines set by customer support in accordance with the airlines requirements, in order to guarantee the aircraft return to service in due time.

You will join the NCF (Nose and Center Fuselage) Daily Repairs team which in addition of the above is also closely working together with the Airbus Offshore Repair Centers located in Wichita, USA and Bengaluru, India.

The European and offshore centres are ensuring the 24/7 customer support according to the Airbus Follow-the-Sun strategy.

You will work in a 24/7 environment, meaning that after a first period of integration and experience gained, you may be asked to contribute to work on specific standby slots or Airbus closure days (ACT period), or even to join the shift system (regular night & weekend shift).

Tasks & accountability

You will be responsible for analyzing, developing and justifying innovative repair solutions in accordance with relevant certification requirement of metallic and/or composite material components and/or assemblies of fuselage structures (ATA 52, 53 and 57-10) for all Airbus programmes.

You will be answering complex challenges in a multifunctional context, using all possible options that are matching customer needs. You will be also respecting in your daily work Airbus design and repair philosophy by using appropriate design tools and justification methods, ensuring above all A/C airworthiness and safety.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Ensuring the A/C safety and airworthiness reporting all unsafe condition,
·  Delivering repair instructions (Repair Technical Answer, (AW), Technical disposition (TD), Repair Instructions (RI), Repair Drawing), associated stress justification (Static or Fatigue Approval Sheets - SAS/FAS) and ultimately RDTAS in accordance with the relevant certification/airworthiness requirements and Airbus process and methods,
·  Ensuring performance with regard to In-Service Queries coming from Customer Service and within the given targets in terms of time (OTD) and quality (FTR),
·  Coordinating proposed repair solution at A/C physical interfaces with other actors and considering the implications of Airworthiness regulations, Materials and Processes, Aerodynamic affects and any other function as required,
·  Managing and validating solution proposed by our sub-contractors and Off-shore centres,
·  Promoting and supporting continuous improvement and innovations initiatives of the Daily Repairs organization through selected projects, providing added value to the A/C operator.

Longer term, you are also willing to:

·  Contributing to 24/7 service through stand-by and potentially AIRSDEF shift system dedicated organization.

This role will involve some worldwide travel for business and as such you must be able and willing to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and competences:

·  Educated to an Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience in an engineering environment,
·  Experience in aircraft structure Stress (knowledge of design is a plus), and associated Methods & Principles is mandatory (knowledge of Fuselage structures ATA 52/53 is a plus),
·  Understanding of Static, Fatigue and Airworthiness requirements when designing aircraft structure,
·  Knowledge of Customer Operations, product Integrity / Liability and maintenance operation would be appreciated,
·  Negotiation level in English and advanced level in French are mandatory.

In addition, you are showing the following abilities:

·  Ability to perform in a high pressure reactive environment and to quickly make decisions,
·  Ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables and priorities,
·  Ability to interface with engineering teams and discuss technical matters clearly and simply,
·  Ability to collaborate well within a team, to work independently when required,
·  Customer mindset and solution oriented,
·  Good communication and influencing skills.

You also have good knowledge of typical AIRBUS IT tools, such as:

- Design & Stress: CATIA V5 / ISAMI

- Product data: Zamiz, GILDA , VPM, Pass SSI, SAP PAC (Concessions)

- Technical manuals: SRM / ASR / NTM / AMM / MMEL / AD / SB / IPC / AirnavX

- Other tools: MS Office, TechRequest
