Location: Friedrichshafen

Start:  November

Duration: 6 months

Over the last years a microsatellite platform has been developed at Airbus DS Friedrichshafen. This platform is called the Flexible LEO Platform (FLP2) and it is targeted for the 50-250kg class of small satellites. The FLP2 is suited for a variety of mission scenarios. For the further development/refinement of this architecture, a testbench with simulated satellite, hardware onboard computer and real mission control system is available in Friedrichshafen.

Tasks

A number of extensions in the command chain – from Mission Control System(MCS) to virtual satellite – are to be integrated over the next months. Tasks in the frame of this internship include:

·  Integration of a CCSDS command decoder/encoder board into the chain (replacing the simulated unit)
·  Establishment of the End-to-End command chain from MCS to the satellite Onboard Computer
·  Coding of configuration command stacks in the MCS to initialize the entire setup.
·  Documentation of the results

Skills

You offer:

·  Enrolled student within Aerospace Engineering or similar field of study
·  Knowledge in TCL and Python
·  English: fluent (spoken and written)

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
