Job Description

Are you looking for a final year project?

Then apply now! We look forward for you to join us.

You will support the department at “Navigation Solutions - GNSS Signals”in Germany/ Taufkirchen

Location: Ottobrunn / Taufkirchen (Munich area)

Start:  Spring Semester 2020

Duration: 6 months

Task Description:

Binary Frequency Shift Keying (BFSK) modulation with linear frequency offset is a new concept under investigation for GNSS fast acquisition, meant to support Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The BFSK signal is perceived by the receiver as a two-tones signal with a fixed frequency separation.

·  The first task of the receiver is to detect the signal using an open-loop architecture (snapshot signal processing).
·  The second task is to determine the Doppler shift and the time delay of the received signal, and the final task consists in demodulating the BFSK symbols.
·  The estimation algorithm has to be particular power efficient and thus DFT coefficients interpolation techniques have to be used.
·  The main challenge of the work consists in adapting DFT coefficients interpolation technique to a dual tone signal with relatively narrow frequency spacing and variable power sharing between the two tones.
·  The objective of the thesis is to elaborate on this concept and extend it with performance analyses.
·  Existing Literature on tone estimation and DFT coefficients interpolation techniques has to be analysed and extended to the problem at hand.

Note: This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills:

·  You are an enrolled student (d/m/f) within Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or similar field of study
·  You have a very solid background in signal processing and signal theory
·  You have very good knowledge in estimation and detection theory
·  You have very good knowledge in digital communication and digital receiver design
·  You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
