Job Description

A vacancy as an Airframe Engineer has arisen  within Airbus in Getafe (Madrid). The successful applicant will join  the IACDM department.

Mission

The job holder is responsible for the development of stress analysis methods and sizing processes for composite and metallic structures, with a particular focus on the basic methods (single failure mode analysis) and on composite structures, but not only: bolted joints, damage tolerance, bonded joints, unfolding, etc.

Within the responsibilities of the jobholder there lays the implementation of the stress methods and sizing processes into official tools (namely ISAMI); as well as the support to SDW teams (with a special focus to IAT as local methods support); and the specification, follow-up and analysis of tests at different levels of the test pyramid to validate the different analyses required for the structural analysis and certification.

Tasks

Main tasks to be accomplished by the jobholder:

·  Definition of stress methods and sizing processes:

Defining stress analyses, methods and sizing processes for the strength justification of structural elements. Preparing corresponding documents including presentations and technical reports.

·  Tool implementation (ISAMI and other transverse PM&T Initiatives):

Generating prototypes and technical specifications to implement stress analysis methods and sizing processes into stress tools, mainly ISAMI, as well as the definition of GUI, links with FE models, material databases, etc. An additional focus is on the relationship and the integration in other transverse PM&T initiatives (i.e SOFIA).

·  Support to Specific Design Work teams:

Ensure operational services & expert support to SDW teams (all components / all programmes) and NSDW (BOS, R&T) teams. Solve specific structural issues as well as general questions during the implementation and the application of guidelines, methods and processes.

·  Validation (Sizing Process & Methods):

Validation of stress processes and analysis methods, mainly by means of tests and FE analysis. This involves the specification, follow-up and analysis of results of tests at different levels of the test pyramid (coupon, panel, element…), as well as the correlation by means of Detailed FE analysis.

Typical deliverables to be produced by jobholder:

·  Technical documentation (reports, memos) defining general and detailed component stress analysis methods and processes for composite and potentially static metallic structures for all programmes.
·  Prototypes and technical specification to implement static analysis methods into stress tools (ISAMI).
·  Technical contribution to support Specific Design Work teams
·  Technical documentation (reports, memos) containing validation of the methods by test for certification.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
