This role works in the Procurement Service within Orbis, whose partner councils spend a total of £1.3bn a year on goods, works and services across five major spend portfolios (or categories) - Corporate and IT, Adults and Public Health, Children's Services, Housing FM and Property, Infrastructure and City Services.

The department provides high quality professional procurement, commercial, contracting and purchasing services to
colleagues and customers both within, and beyond, the partner authorities.

Responsibilities of the role:
*To deliver added value from the lower value sourcing requirements of customers across the Orbis partnership authorities (see context), providing updated or new contracts for spend between £25,000 and the regulatory threshold for goods and services set in law.
*This involves using analysis reports to inform sourcing options, obtaining quotes or bids from prospective suppliers, and supporting customers to evaluate them and select the most appropriate one(s) for their needs.
*To act as second-line support for customer requirements, providing a single point of contact for customer queries and problem-solving.
*To maintain up-to-date and accurate records/templates in the e-tendering system for sourcing and contracts.
*To liaise with Orbis Business Operations purchase-to-pay teams to ensure that the contracts being let are set up ready to use via the appropriate process in each authority.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
* Roles at this level provide a business support service as part of a specific service or service team.
* They will carry out a range of administrative tasks using knowledge of general office routines and procedures, together with a broad understanding of the department and how the tasks directly support the service or service team.

* The work is within established processes and procedures and while it may not be subject to direct supervision, guidance is readily available.
* They will be expected to organise their own workload and set their own priorities within short, e.g. day-to-day or week-to-week timescales, usually reacting to clear deadlines or processes.
* They support more senior staff by executing the detailed processes in specific aspects of business, financial, facilities and/or HR administration and will be fully versed in all the procedures of their specialism.
* For some roles, customer service may be the predominant feature, e.g. dealing with a variety of clients in relation to a department's activities. Others may support a group of more senior staff with some of the more routine duties and ensure matters are dealt with appropriately when they are out of the office.

* A common sense approach to solving problems.
