Working in a multi agency environment we ensure the protection of the public by the effective management of those sexual and violent offenders who pose the greatest risk of harm. Identifying those who potentially could cause harm who do not yet fall under any statutory obligations and informing relevant agencies in order to put measures in place to prevent this occurring. In particular to:

* Manage the quality and security of intelligence used by the Force through the deployment of effective and appropriate systems and procedures.

* Disseminate intelligence in the appropriate manner to relevant organisations, departments and/or individuals, whilst maintaining the required confidentiality, sensitivity and duty of care.

* Gather intelligence to facilitate the achievement of crime and disorder reduction objectives. Ensure intelligence is obtained ethically and in accordance and in accordance with the relevant legislation, policy, protocols and codes of practice.

* Provide specialist advice and knowledge to colleagues, partners and other individuals (including offenders) and agencies in relation to ali related MAPPA activity (specifically sexual offences legislation) in support of Force priorities and to enable compliance with Force policies and working practices

* Undertake research and produce subject profiles for sensitive and complex Child Exploitation On Line Intelligence packages

* Undertake processes to trace and track missing or wanted sex offenders including SPOC work and Interpol enquiries.

In addition there are some functions that are intrinsic to the role. An employer's duty of care and current legislation allows the Force to establish if a potential applicant could carry them out, either with or without reasonable adjustments, This functions is:

* Working with Disturbing Evidence/Observation of Disturbing Circumstances

To assist in ensuring applicants would be able to undertake these functions of the role, it will be necessary for the medical questionnaire provided with the application material to be completed. A medical assessment of the information provided in that questionnaire will be undertaken and may subsequently require a consultation with the Occupational Health Support Unit.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

* Proven research skills, with the ability to identify relevant information from a number of sources and to draw accurate inferences from minimal information.

* An awareness and understanding of the sophisticated use of a variety of Internet search engines to undertake more complex/detailed searches.

* Demonstrable ability to draft clear, concise but appropriately detailed and accurate reports

* An outline understanding of the issues and processes surrounding dangerous offending management and relevant legislation

* Demonstrably resilient, with the ability to cope with potentially disturbing information.
