Deliver day to day payroll processes operation to all staff.
Provide a payroll support service to the full range of Council departments,
pensioners and Members. To calculate allowances and deductions due from input
supplied and deal with queries in person, on the telephone and in writing
Deliver a high quality, consistent and professional service that meets strategic
objectives, service level agreements (SLA), legislation, policies and procedures,
being efficient and effective, whilst meeting agree timeframes, standards and
targets.
Provide service delivery, advice and support in a cost effective, efficient and
solutions-focused way that ensures customer satisfaction and positively impacts
customer efficiency and confidence.
Provide routine advice and deal with routine queries and process resolution in
accordance with statutory legislation, operational procedures and employee terms
and conditions.
Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge on relevant statutory and regulatory
legislation, policies, procedures and employee terms and conditions
Be conversant with the various conditions of service, relating to pay, applied to the
Council's highly varied workforce.
Be conversant with the rules and regulations covering the calculation and
deduction of Income Tax, National Insurance contributions, Pension contributions,
Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity Pay.
Liaise with HMRC, DWP and any other external organisations completing relevant
paperwork and request when required
Calculate actual and estimated employees remuneration (together with details of
corresponding whole time salaries and wages where appropriate) to provide the
pensions section with accurate information for the calculation of pension benefits.
Administer and co-ordinate input on a range of procedures which include:
Processing sickness records/SSP/sickness entitlements.
