Adecco Poole and Bournemouth are delighted to be assisting one of our local clients in their search for a Media Officer.

This is initially a 3 month contract role.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing issue and incident specific media strategies, often in liaison with partner agencies, in order to generate accurate, balanced and positive publicity to help reduce crime and enhance public confidence.

Responsibilities

·  Assess information to ensure an open and transparent service is provided and decide which information should be disclosed

·  Provide media updates on incidents and crimes

·  Train and support staff to ensure the organisation is represented appropriately in its communications with the media.

·  Deliver a comprehensive media monitoring / horizon scanning service to ensure both Forces are alert to news stories

·  Utilise a variety of different news channel - social media, community websites, Force websites etc

·  Review social media accounts from a news perspective

·  Build effective relationships with journalists and editors.

·  Organise media conferences and arrange interviews and press releases for the media.

The Ideal Candidate

·  A demonstrable and successful track record of experience in media relations in a fast moving environments

·  Experience of working with senior levels within an organisation

·  Proven experience of managing multi-agency issue-specific media strategies

·  Develop strategies to promote and manage media relations

·  Proven ability in managing relationships with the media.

·  Experience and evidence of influencing key stakeholders including Editors, criminal justice agencies, and other groups.

·  Knowledge of criminal law and police procedures.

·  Knowledge of all types of media including online, print and broadcast.

Rate

£15.18 p/h
