· Responsible for upkeep of all plant machinery and mechanical equipment in body prep department.
· Respond efficiently to breakdowns
· Monitor condition of all plant/conveyor systems via line walks/inspections and plan in required actions accordingly to minimise downtime.
· Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
· Diagnose faults using efficient fault-finding techniques.
· Remove and repair or replace defective parts.
· Complete daily job/PPM sheets
· Monitor the collectors (PVH, Farr, Dust Hog and SL3) and mechanical plant in the dust plant.
· Provide engineering cover when needed.
· Responsible for mill and drier planned maintenance. Monitor the maintenance countdown screen and plan in work accordingly.
· Promote good housekeeping for an efficient working environment.
· Monitor and implementation of safe working practices at all times.
Knowledge, skills and experience,
· The following qualifications are preferable, but training could be a consideration if elements of these have not yet been achieved.
· ONC L3 mechanical or BTEC L3 mechanical
· Hydraulics and pneumatics
· Welding
· FLT counterbalance, cherry picker and scissor lift licenses (training can be provided)
· IOSHH H&S qualification or equivalent
· ONC L3 Electrical
· Basic IT literacy
· A minimum of 5 years suitable mechanical experience within a similar role could considered if formal qualifications have not yet been achieved.
· Knowledge and experience of the running of the plant (mill, drier, dust plant etc.) would be advantageous.
Principal accountabilities
· React quickly and efficiently when needed to any breakdowns
· Complete planned maintenance schedules on a regular rota basis, identifying issues early and planning to resolve during suitable downtime.
Respond proactively to issues raised by team leaders/operators/management
