We are recruiting for a temporary HR Advisor to work within the HR Partnering team based at a University based in Central London. This role is paying £16.74 is currently on a short term basis.

Requirements:

Minute taking experience

Knowledge of employment law/advising on HR matters

Job Summary

To support and work alongside the HR Partners in providing professional support and advice to Departments, Institutes, Research centres and services throughout the School on all aspects of HR and specifically employee relations matters consistent with internal processes and legal requirements. To act as first contact on School recruitment activity as well as providing advice on other School policies and procedures. To work closely with the HR Administrators to ensure that recruitment and other activities are handled proficiently.

Customer service

* Work closely with allocated departments and other key stakeholders within and outside the HR Division to build strong and effective working relationships. * Provide proactive support to allocated areas of the School and other customers and colleagues, ensuring the team delivers a professional and efficient customer service. * Provide support in obtaining, reviewing and analysing customer feedback, ensuring standards and the customer experience, are continuously improved. * Effectively manage and respond to high volume information requests and queries, providing efficient and accurate responses in line with expected standards of service. * Explore customer needs by asking pertinent questions to provide the customer with the optimum level of service. * Deal with potentially delicate situations, or with demanding customers, in an appropriate and professional manner.

Recruitment

* Be responsible for the effective management and delivery of the recruitment process ensuring procedures are followed in a timely and efficient manner, including servicing academic and research selection committees. * In liaison with HR colleagues, provide advice and guidance to recruiting managers on recruiting schedules, appropriate advertising, job descriptions and person specifications, Job evaluation (HERA Framework), re-gradings of posts, remuneration and induction. * Carry out HERA grading for recruitment purposes using the HERA software. * Provide advice to the academic and research selection committees, Vice Chair of the Appointments Committee (VCAC), the Director, Deputy Director and Provost and Pro Directors on various recruitment issues. * Offer advice and guidance to managers, and monitor usage statistics, to ensure the appropriate employment of temporary workers in accordance with the Agency Workers Regulations.

HR support

* Give basic generic advice and guidance in relation to grievance, disciplinary and capability cases and support the HR Partners by producing documentation. * Arrange and attend informal/formal meetings and hearings with the HR Partners, ensuring that all paperwork is accurate and take notes at meetings as required. * Advise on appropriate cases under the direction of the HR Partner and support on organisational change programmes. * Assist with delivery of high quality, customer-focused HR services to managers that meet needs and requirements. Monitor and analyse Management Information (MI) and highlight trends or priority areas for action. * Provide advice and guidance to managers and HR colleagues across the School on reward matters including HERA evaluations, promotions and regradings, contribution pay and market supplements. * Run regular Management Information reports. * Liaise with Departments and Divisions around the School on fixed-term contracts and funding extensions to ensure accurate contract amendments are produced in a timely and accurate manner. * Support staff across the Division by ensuring workloads are covered and service is maintained when other team members are absent or involved in other HR work. * Proactively contribute to the successful delivery of the HR Operational Plan. * Support the plans for legislative changes and associated amendments and enhancements to guidance and procedures. * Together with the rest of the HR Division, actively support filing of personnel information.

Maternity, paternity, adoption and Shared Parent Provide appropriate guidance and advice to staff, managers and HR Partners on maternity, paternity, adoption and Shared Parental Leave entitlements and procedures ensuring the relevant documentation is received at the appropriate time. * Liaise with the Payroll Team to ensure payments are made correctly. Wellbeing and occupational health (OH) * Advise managers and HR Partners on the procedures for Occupational Health referrals and liaise with the School's Occupational Health supplier on occupational health referrals. * Monitor sickness absence information on a monthly and annual basis and provide a summary for HR Partners. * Proactively identify issues regarding sickness and carry out preliminary investigation into areas of concern.
