Our client within public sector is looking for an experienced Diesel HGV /PCV Mechanic to join their team based in Wandsworth. The role is offered on a 3 months contract basis paying up to £22/hour (umbrella rate) , working 36 hours per week, Mon to Friday.
The purpose of the role is:
· Routine maintenance, inspection and repair of Council's and external customers vehicles (Trucks and Buses mainly)
· Prepare, present and accompany all HGV/PCV vehicles for annual MOT inspections.
· Carry out periodic safety inspections to all HGV/PCV vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
· Carry out fault diagnosis on complex hydraulic , pneumatic and electrical systems.
· To attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and effect permanent or running repairs as required.
· To prepare and decommission vehicles. Fitting and removing a diverse range of ancillary equipment and livery.
· To complete associated paperwork to ensure that statistics and legal information are produced.
· To ensure that all relevant legislation and Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
· To maintain work areas in a safe and clean condition.
Required Experience and Sills:
· Experience of maintaining, fault-finding and repairing HGV/PCV vehicles
· Experience with preparing HGV/PCV vehicles for MOT inspections
· Able to handle a range of ancillary equipment and livery
· Relevant industry recognised qualifications as HGV/PCV Mechanic or Vehicle Technician
· Current Category C or D driving licence holders with a valid DQC and drivers card will be highly desired/ideal for the role
· Good understanding of Health & Safety procedure.
