Director of Engineering & Loss Prevention
As the Director of Engineering & Loss Prevention, you a responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel. This role is responsible for the development of the Engineering and Security teams and staying ahead of compliance regulations and procedures, energy conservation and efficiency, and project management for building, hotel, and condo residences.

What you will be doing:

·  Reporting to the Director, Operations, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
·  Lead the Engineering Team in day to day maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules
·  Oversee the Security team in ensuring protection of hotel assets both product and people
·  Possess a complete understanding of all building related systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, Life Safety, etc.) and equipment
·  Develop and execute a strong Rooms Preventative Maintenance program to preserve and extend the condition of guest rooms
·  Have a hands on approach and leadership, actively involved in the maintenance of the facility
·  Develop strong relationships with building engineering responsible for M.E.P systems
·  Manages and oversees a safety-sensitive workplace working closely with the safety team to work on preventing accidents in the work place and timely response to incidents and action plans
·  Prepares and presents reports on departments’ activities, accomplishments, and problems on a monthly basis.
·  Coordinate communication for all project work, construction, mechanical/eletrical equipment, and risk management between residents, condo association, PNC, hotel and vendors/contractors
·  Champion & drive hotel ‘Planet 21 Team’ – promoting and furthering LEED values within the hotel
·  Will be accountable for the finances of the POMEC department
·  Coordinate preventative maintenance for all areas and equipment including  guestrooms, kitchens, public areas, MEP, back of house/colleague areas
·  Partner with Royal Service to ensure data capture of maintenance requests and work orders and to ensure efficiences and communication through the dispatch process
·  Prepare CAPEX and POMEC budgets annually for Engineering
·  Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external vendors and building facility colleagues
·  Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly service
·  Review daily reports, arrival, VIP, group and communicate all special requirements and monitor execution
·  Conduct regular leadership and colleague briefings and formal communication meetings
·  Ensure compliance to hotel established standards and procedures
·  Partner with the Director of Talent and Culture to ensure compliance to performance management principles and procedures
·  Review and update Business Continuity Plans annually and ensure operational teams receive proper training and refreshers
·  Other duties as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

·  Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering
·  Minimum 2 years progressive Engineering experience, preferably in a luxury property
·  A degree in Engineering or similar preferred
·  Previous experience of facilities management
·  Budgeting and accounting knowledge
·  Proficient, at an advanced level, with computers and relevant computer programs
·  Electrical, plumbing and HVAC knowledge is required
·  Hands on management style with ability to lead through example
·  Hands on Mechanical skills and aptitude
·  Experience with residential associations a plus
·  Strong organizational skills
·  Excellent interpersonal skills, with great oral and written communication ability

Your working environment:

·  Requires extended periods of standing and walking throughout shifts, as well as medium to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects
