Status : Regular, Full Time, This position is currently M-F, once Covid-19 restrictions are updated this position will move to 4X4 Extended shift, four days on four days off from 6:30am to 6:30pm.

Position Overview:

As a member of the R&D assay development team you will lead day-to-day execution of product testing protocols, protocol development, test planning, and training of new employees.  The incumbent will serve as a point of contact between team scientists and operation staff to ensure work is completed efficiently.  The work requires judgment, initiative, creativity, and leadership in troubleshooting, suggesting alternatives and making recommendations.

Responsibilities:

· 
Lead day-to-day activities of operators within the laboratory.  This includes (but is not limited to): product testing, organizing sample supply, performing calculations for sample manipulation, organizing cartridge incubation, and executing protocols using lab equipment.

· 
Thoroughly review protocols to ensure they can be successfully executed.

· 
Train and develop new members of the team.

· 
Collaborate with team to effectively communicate daily reports.

· 
Provide input to maximize efficiency of experimental scheduling.

· 
Communicate ideas and suggestions for improving processes to leadership and actively participates in implementing timely solutions.

· 
Assist in organizing experiments, and planned equipment maintenance, and planned lab shutdowns.

· 
Perform basic data analysis and manipulation.

· 
Acts as a role model and ensures operating procedures are followed.

· 
Handle a large amount of work efficiently and effectively.

· 
Accurately performing work while adapting to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and sudden or frequent changes in priority in order to accomplish objectives.

· 
Acquire and demonstrate knowledge of safety and health procedures as they relate to the human resources of the organization.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

· 
College Diploma (2 yr program) or equivalent work experience

· 
2-5 years of experience working in a laboratory

· 
Experience working with analytical equipment (>1 year)

· 
Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change and work independently with minimal supervision

· 
Ability to effectively lead others

· 
Ability to accurately handle a large amount of work efficiently and effectively

· 
Ability to train peers on new procedures or processes

· 
Ability to effectively adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and sudden or frequent changes in priority in order to accomplish objectives

· 
Proficient with Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

· 
Experience working with MS Excel (intermediate or better)

· 
Direct experience testing medical device products

· 
Experience writing/reviewing protocols, forms, and templates

· 
Experience planning testing activities

· 
Experience presenting results to leadership

· 
Experience in inventory management

· 
Demonstrated leadership success in a team environment

· 
Experience maintaining analytic equipment

· 
Experience or training in data analysis
