JOB DESCRIPTION:

Supporting the Materials operations, this role will report directly to the Site Technical Training Front Line Leader (FLL) and has a tactical focus on the day to day implementation and adherence to the site training process.  This role will provide direct on-the job-training instruction, as well as oversight of the training process for the Materials operations. Materials operations include Receiving, Ingredient Storage, Palletizers, Scheduling and Inventory Control.  This role will ensure new team members are provided with instruction to perform job responsibilities as outlined in the training process.  This role will partner and align with the overall technical training strategy for the organization.  The individual will need to be flexible in their work schedule to accommodate the training needs of a multi-shift operation and the incumbent should anticipate routine presence on the off-shifts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Can operate the equipment / complete the tasks associated with the area they support and train.
  • Conduct and/or coordination of OJT for area team members new to the function / role or for periodic assessments of ongoing skills and demonstrated competency.
  • Provides SME insight and support in updates to 1PL’s as periodic reviews occur.
  • Oversees the OJT scheduling and schedule adherence of the OJT process, including support of the Certified Job Trainers/Learning Mentors.
  • Partner with site Technical Training Specialist to monitor and track department training activities by area of support (OJT schedule adherence, cross-training, rotations).
  • Assist in the development (as an area/task SME) and completion of annual and requested training for area personnel.
  • Provides daily guidance and direction to personnel in training on task assignments and expectations.
  • Partner in the development of cross-training matrices for operational functions and determine gaps / necessary steps to build departmental flexibility and competency.
  • Work to address new team member concerns related to their OJT training and tools.
  • Ensure that the site training tools and processes are followed and adhered to by site personnel in their respective area(s).
  • Ensure periodic learning assessments on critical tasks are complete and documented with any action items outlined for gaps.
  • Provides regular off-shift support to conduct OJT training and assessments. Flexible hours are based on departmental needs.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the site’s Technical Training FLL.
  • Partners with the FLL’s and Materials Manager for the assigned area as well as new team members in their assigned function/area.
  • Provides support and coaching for Learning Mentors in their assigned area.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required with higher education preferred. 
  • This position must have a thorough working knowledge of the functions within their area of support and be able to perform these tasks and instruct on them independently while adhering to effective training principles and concepts to ensure learning and demonstrated competency. 
  • It is preferred that the candidate is currently certified on all Receiving / Ingredient Storage / Palletizer tasks for which they will provide hands-on instruction. This includes a valid Powered Industrial Truck (forklift) License.  If not, they must become certified in all functions for which they will provide hands-on instruction. 
  • Three years or more of Materials experience in Ingredient Storage and/or Receiving is preferred. 
  • Experience as a Job Trainer or Learning Mentor preferred.
