JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

The Sr. Production Equipment Operator will be required to operate, clean and help maintain the production related equipment (labelers, de-palletizers, palletizers, casepackers, coders, cap hoppers, filler, filler requirements, etc.). The operator must be able to start up and shutdown all equipment according to established procedures or specifications and perform minor to major clearing of jams and downtime issues on the line. The operator must report any abnormal equipment function, or product problems to the Supervisor. The operator is responsible for the safe operations of all equipment, promptly report all incidents, injuries, or safety hazards. The operator is responsible for maintaining general housekeeping cleaning, sanitation and safe work area by utilizing all 5S cleaning and tools necessary to keep the area clean and clear of debris, safe, neat and organized. The operator may be required to perform job tasks at different work times, on different work schedules, and also in other departments dependent upon business needs. The operator will be required to work overtime as needed, and to provide line coverage during vacations, roving holidays and sick time.

Main Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are dependent upon which manufacturing line the Sr. Production Equipment Operator is working on: The Senior Production Equipment Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and light maintenance and minor adjustments as needed of the labeling equipment, multiwrappers, casepackers, depalletizer and all associated equipment and conveyors. The operator must be able to maintain accurate and legible records such as Production Counts, Material Usage/Losses and properly document information on Batch Work orders as per the company procedures. The operator is responsible for adhering to the product isolation procedures, along with sampling and proper identification of product status. The operator must be able to maintain an adequate supply of materials to the equipment in operation, and also monitor supply usage and correct releases. The operator must be able to troubleshoot and make the necessary adjustments as required to maintain quality performance. The operator must ensure that both products and materials are of proper identification, correct codes and expiration dates. In addition, products and materials should also have acceptable visual and physical appearances. The operator is also responsible for periodic on line visual quality inspections and offline quality test. Responsibilities include completion and adherence to all procedures and work order documents including downtime reports, PIR's, and other associated documentation entries necessary to perform required tasks. Responsible for notifying appropriate personnel of problems or potential problem situations and successfully navigate computer driven operator interface equipment. The operator is expected to proactively identify and implement production improvements in their areas of responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

This position is accountable for their personal responsibility and pride to Abbott. This position is accountable to ensure that he/she holds their team members accountable for their actions and ensure for themselves that all rules and regulations applicable to the manufacture of both pediatric and nutritional products are in compliance. Any error or failure to comply could result in customer complaints, FDA violations, product recall or loss of business. This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA, GMP, OSHA and Abbott regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED

Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals. This position requires the ability to communicate pertinent line information to both production and support group personnel. Attention to detail, manufacturing and some mechanical aptitude are required.
