JOB DESCRIPTION:

 Scope of the Role

  • Responsibility for APAC manufacturing plants and APAC Supply Chain.
  • Provide financial counsel and analysis for strategic Manufacturing & Supply Chain initiatives, monitor performance against Plan/Update/LBE/LRP and ensure Management is advised on exposure issues for APAC.
  • Drive development and preparation of annual Standard Costs for the Manufacturing Plants in APAC.
  • Drive development and preparation of solid Operations financial business plans and ensure that the Operations & Supply Chain delivers on its financial commitments to APAC and Division.
  • Support Operations & Supply Chain Director in key decisions and ensure responsible investment decisions for all capital projects in APAC Manufacturing Plants.
  • Support Operations & Supply Chain Director in areas of cost improvements, resource optimization & prioritization and day-to-day Operations across APAC countries.
  • Summarize and communicate complex financial situations in a clear and concise manner explaining thought processes and analysis to senior Management.
  • Anticipate political/economic trends and their impact on costs and Abbott's business and advise senior Management accordingly.     
  • Provide leadership to build, maintain and develop Finance talent across APAC Manufacturing Plants.
  • Delivery of financial commitment including various KPI across all plants
  • Provide financial direction to the plant and provide recommendations to improve site performance.
  • Shares best practices across global finance team, e.g. process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes
  • Collaborates with leadership team and APAC Ops Director to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare periodic financial plans / updates / LBE’s for Operations & Supply Chain in accordance with EPD Division requirements.
  • Monitor Manufacturing Plant operations performance against financial plans/updates/LBE’s and ensure management is advised on exposure issues.
  • Provide actual monthly and quarterly financial data in compliance with Area, Division and Corporate Reporting requirements.
  • Ensure integrity of financial books and records, establish and maintain a robust and compliant internal control environment for the Manufacturing Plants.
  • Develop appropriate financial strategies in accordance with EPD’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide financial counsel and analysis for proposed strategic growth initiatives.
  • Drive development and preparation of solid financial business plans (and underlying analysis) to ensure the business delivers its financial commitments.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries from the business. Analyzes business problems and requirements; develops recommendations for solutions.
  • May be able to travel to other manufacturing site (Indonesia) site as needed basis.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

  • CPA, CIMA or MBA Finance preferred
  • Minimum 10 years in a financial leadership (Plant/Supply Chain Controlling) role, preferably for a Pharmaceutical company
  • Conversant with Standard Cost setting for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing plants
  • Advanced level spreadsheet experience.
  • Multi-national exposure is preferred.
  • Experience in competing in Low-Cost Countries and/or Generic Models
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports directly to Operations & Supply Chain Director for APAC, EPD and dotted line to APAC Area Finance Director in Singapore
  • Manages Finance Controllers for Manufacturing Plants
  • Business revenue size of approx. USD 450 million in 10 countries.
