In Ireland, Abbott employs almost 3,000 people across 10 sites. Abbott has six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. It has commercial, support operations and shared services in Dublin. Abbott serves the Irish market with a diverse range of health care products including diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Abbott has been operating in Ireland since 1946. 

We currently have a vacancy for 
Label Development Co-Ordinator role and this position will involve the following:

Primary Function / Goals / Objectives

  • Follow all Environmental, Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.
  • Report any current or potential hazards to your manager immediately.
  • The Label Development Co-Ordinator must wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) at all times for the work they are carrying out.  This will protect from biological hazards and general laboratory hazards.  Appropriate controls such as fume hood and ventilation must be taken where required.  Consult the appropriate SOP when required.
  • This function has the responsibility for reviewing all SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure he/she fully understands and adheres to the SOP.
  • The Label Development Co-ordinator is responsible for co-ordinating label development, approval and control.  She/he must ensure all requirements are in full accordance with Abbott Policies & Procedures.
  • She/he will prepare registration packages, FLTS documentation and other information for affiliates in line with new and ongoing developments.
  • To provide input as relevant during plant development projects relating to Label Copy development and influence where necessary on projects, schedules etc. to ensure timing, implementation and follow up issues are completed on time and within budget.
  • She/he must establish strong links with the markets and develop these links in line with Abbott Ireland Cootehill’s strategy to become a center of excellence.
  • This Job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical / New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP’s are made.
  • This list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible were this need arises.

Major Responsibilities

  • She/he must co-ordinate label development, approval and control.

Education Required

  • Degree in Food Science/Dairy Science/ Packaging Technology or Nutritional Food Science.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of compliance and quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in analytical techniques and methods used.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and management skills.
    • Ability to:
    • Communicate with all levels of the organization.
    • Communicate effectively with cross-functional team.
    • Recognize and reward effort.
    • Resolve conflict constructively.

Accountability / Scope

  • Label errors can lead to major regulatory consumer and market issue and even product recall.
